Gartner Inc, the world’s leading research and advisory company and a member of the S&P 500, said that worldwide revenue of 5G wireless network infrastructures will become nearly doubled between 2019 and 2020.
In its forecast, Gartner said that global 5G network infrastructure revenue will see an increase of 89% to reach $4.2 billion in 2020 from that of $2.2 billion in 2019, and that is forecasted to be further increased to $6.8 billion 2021.
The market researcher also predicted that communications service providers (CSPs) will be making double of the investments in 5G New Radio (NR) network in 2020 than they will make in 2019, as this year investments will account for 6% of the total wireless infrastructure revenue which will reach to 12% in next year.
Senior research director at Gartner, Sylvain Fabre said that revenue from 5G wireless network infrastructure will grew to nearly double between 2019 and 2020. He said that in 2019, CSPs are using non-stand-alone technology to deploy 5G networks as 5G NR equipment provide them the flexibility to launch them alongside existing 4G core network infrastructures, which make them able to quickly roll out 5G services that are much more faster than the existing 4G service.
And it will be the 2020 when CSPs will be rolling out 5G technology that will be standalone which requires 5G NR equipment as well as a 5G core network, which will result in reduced costs for CSPs and will improve consumer’s experience using the 5G services.
Many carriers have already started providing 5G services in countries around the world including the United States being the only country in North America, whereas to the other side of the Pacific, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Finland are the European countries where 5G services have been deployed while South Korea is the only Asian country who started getting benefit of 5G services.
About 7% of the CSPs worldwide have so far deployed 5G infrastructure in their networks, as estimated Gartner.
