Windstream expanding Fixed Wireless Wholesale Ethernet Access

Windstream Holdings Inc’s will be providing enterprises with its fixed wireless wholesale Ethernet access service having speeds of ranging between 3 Mbps and 5 Gbps with guaranteed 99.99 percent availability in 400,000 buildings in 50 markets across the United States by the end of 2019, the company said last week.

A dedicated internet access Ethernet E-Access and MPLS will now be supported by the Windstream fixed wireless services, customers of which will be experiencing a more economical alternative to copper and fiber at an uncompromised service level and faster installation times, Joe Scattareggia, Windstream Wholesale Executive Vice President,  said in a press release.

Windstream remained announcing a longer stream of news related to fixed wireless which is even longer series of announcements in the industry of fixed wireless and current announcement is the latest addition to those fixed wireless news by the company.

Unlike the other carriers having individual customers as center point of their focus, Windstream adopted the different strategy of targeting enterprise users for its fixed wireless, while other carriers including major players like AT&T and Verizon who remained using fixed wireless as a way to capture the residential customers having an option of wireline service available but at speeds lower than of fixed wireless service.

Windstream, for its fixed wireless strategy, has made a choice of focusing heavily on enterprise market and remained striving to lessen its reliance on other carriers for access links, and that strategy to lay emphasis on enterprise fixed wireless is consistent for the company.

In pursuit of enterprise users, Windstream did not overlook the local service business and has recently been serving residential customers in some area using fixed wireless and company’s reliance on fixed wireless to serve residential users will be increasing in the future, as foreseeing the Windstream CEO Tom Thomas.
