Intel Corp is in intentions of exploiting the event of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to show off many of its new technology that will also include use of artificial intelligence to drive 3D system of tracking athletes to enhance viewer’s experience throughout the Games while broadcasting the mega event.

The tracking technology by Intel will make use of mobile cameras in capturing videos of events at Olympic, and will utilize those videos to create visual superimposition and analysis, the tech giant announced earlier this in Tokyo.

The Olympic showoff comes as the chipmaker, which once was dominating the market worldwide, is in quest of new prospects in the midst when it has been facing its profits forecasted to be growing at modest pace over the next three years because of its shrinking market share in personal computer chips market.

The opportunity at Olympic is not only really good one for showing off company’s microprocessor technologies its has been developing for many years but will also showcase the company’s efforts it has been putting in recent years in software, broadcast enhancements and algorithms, said Rick Echevarria, general manager of Intel’s Olympic Program, to members of the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee at an event attended by them.

Intel, in order to help train the staff performing miscellaneous duties at the event, will also recreate images of venues using virtual reality, which will also be used to offering live virtual broadcast of track events, beach volley ball, and boxing; and for both opening and closing ceremonies of the event.

Facial technology will also be used to recognize and track nearly 300,000 people including athletes, journalists, staff and volunteers going in and out of the Olympic venues, said the tech giant.

Prior to opening of Olympic 2020, Intel will host an esport gaming tournament that will also be held in Tokyo and will be concluded in for four days.
